As of September 2026, this is the first major Pokémon set where the barrier for an overseas buyer is not price but paperwork. The Pokémon Card official site announced that identity verification using Japan’s マイナンバーカード (My Number card) would be used for 30th-anniversary product allocation, and that the majority of winning lottery slots will go to verified applicants.[1] A My Number card is issued to residents of Japan.[3] If you do not live in Japan, you are not losing the lottery — you were never in it. What 30th CELEBRATION Actually Is
30th CELEBRATION is the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s 30th-anniversary expansion, releasing simultaneously worldwide on 16 September 2026.[2] Three things make it structurally different from a normal set:
- Every card is foil, including basic Energy. That is why a pack holds 6 cards and costs ¥360 instead of the usual ¥200.[2]
- A new rarity, FUR (Futuristic Rare), debuts in this set, headlined by Mewtwo ex and Mew ex.[2]
- Thirty different Pikachu foils, one per pack, each by a different illustrator.[2]
Alongside the boosters there is a separate premium item, the 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX at ¥27,500, which bundles FUR-treatment Pikachu ex promos with coins, dice, sleeves, a deck case and a rubber playmat.[4] A Premium Deck Set (Espeon and Umbreon) lists at ¥6,200 and a nine-piece Card Set at ¥10,800.[1]

The My Number Wall, Explained
Japanese retailers have run lotteries for hot Pokémon product for years, and resellers have gamed them for just as long by entering with many accounts. For the 30th-anniversary line, the official response is identity verification: applicants who complete verification with a My Number card receive the majority of winning slots. Unverified applicants may still enter, but with materially lower odds, and verification does not guarantee a win.[1]
The My Number card is Japan’s national identification card, issued to people registered as residents of Japan.[3] There is no overseas equivalent and no way to obtain one from abroad. So for an international collector:
- You cannot enter the good half of the Japanese lottery. Any service claiming it will win you a My Number-verified allocation is describing someone else’s identity being used.
- Shop pre-orders that do not require verification are still open — these are the listings we priced below, and they are where a proxy is genuinely useful.
- Post-release singles are unaffected. Once packs are opened, cards flow onto Mercari and Yahoo Auctions like any other set.

The pattern is the one you would expect nine days before a hyped release: anything sealed and boxed carries a speculative premium, while loose packs and accessories still trade near list. The accessory line is the quiet bargain — a 30th CELEBRATION-branded long card box at ¥660 is the same money as a generic storage box, and it will never be reprinted.

- Step 6 — Consolidate. The first six orders combine free; each order beyond six adds ¥100.

Shipping is not the expensive part of this purchase — the box premium is. Twenty dollars of freight against a ¥20,200 premium over list is a rounding error, which is another way of saying: optimise the listing you buy, not the carrier.
US buyers should note that the United States revoked its US$800 de minimis duty-free exemption on 29 August 2025, so parcels are dutiable regardless of value.[6]

Can a proxy service enter the Japanese lottery for me?

Is the Japanese version different from the English 30th Celebration?

Should I buy a box now or wait?
