Special Deck Set MEGA: Release Date, Price and Contents
Pokémon’s Japanese product page lists the set for Friday, November 13, 2026 at a suggested retail price of ¥5,500 including tax. Inside are three constructed 60-card decks, three paper deck cases, three Pokémon coins, one damage-counter/marker sheet, one playmat, one rules booklet, three player’s guides and a card box.[1]
| Special Deck Set MEGA spec | Japanese version |
|---|---|
| Japanese name | スペシャルデッキセットMEGA メガオーダイル・メガカイリュー・メガゲンガー |
| Japan release | Friday, November 13, 2026 |
| Suggested retail price | ¥5,500 (tax included) |
| Decks | 3 constructed 60-card decks: Mega Feraligatr ex, Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Gengar ex |
| Accessories | 3 paper deck cases, 3 Pokémon coins, 1 damage-counter/marker sheet, 1 playmat, 1 rules booklet, 3 player’s guides, 1 card box |
| Holo (キラ) cards | 2 of the Mega ex plus 1 holo each of its Basic and Stage 1 in each deck |
| JAN on retailer listings | 4521329463155 |
Two notes on the maker page matter for collectors. Because these are pre-built decks, the same card appears several times in each deck, and some cards in the set are reprints of cards released or distributed earlier.[1] The JAN code is from retailer listings; it is the quickest way to tell this set from a single-deck starter.
What’s in Each Deck: Mega Feraligatr, Mega Dragonite and Mega Gengar
The product page prints the full decklist for all three decks.[1] Each deck runs two copies of its Mega Evolution ex as holo (キラ) cards, plus one holo copy each of the Basic and Stage 1 in its line. All three share the same trainer core: 4 Ultra Ball, 4 Poké Pad, 4 Lillie’s Determination, 2 Boss’s Orders and 1 Judge.
| Deck | Mega ex highlight | Main partners and Energy |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Feraligatr ex (Water Energy) | Attack キラークランチ (“Killer Crunch”): 400 damage in total if the opponent’s Active Pokémon already has damage counters | Totodile ×4 · Croconaw ×3 · Glastrier · Mantine · Arrokuda / Barraskewda · Tornadus; Rare Candy, Waitress; 18 basic Water Energy |
| Mega Dragonite ex (Water + Lightning Energy) | Ability スカイキャリー: switch your Active with a Benched Pokémon once a turn; attack リューノグライド: 330 damage, discard 2 Energy | Dratini ×4 · Dragonair ×3 · Ogerpon Wellspring Mask ×2 · Emolga · Yamper / Boltund · Minccino / Cinccino; Pokégear 3.0, Rosa’s Encouragement; 6 Water + 12 Lightning Energy |
| Mega Gengar ex (Darkness Energy) | Ability かげかくし: one fewer Prize card when your Darkness Pokémon is Knocked Out by an opponent’s Pokémon ex attack; attack ヴォイドゲイル: 230 damage for 2 Darkness Energy, then move 1 Energy to the Bench | Gastly ×4 · Haunter ×3 · Sableye · Seviper ×2 · Trubbish / Garbodor · Morpeko; Rare Candy, Air Balloon, Dawn; 18 basic Darkness Energy |
- Mega Feraligatr ex deck — a damage-then-finish plan: Glastrier spreads 20 damage to the Active and Bench, then Killer Crunch hits for 400 in total. Mantine benches up to two Basic Pokémon from the deck.
- Mega Dragonite ex deck — the only deck with two Energy types. Ogerpon Wellspring Mask fetches Water Energy for the 330-damage attack, and Rosa’s Encouragement attaches up to 2 basic Energy from the discard pile to one Stage 2 Pokémon when you are behind on Prizes.
- Mega Gengar ex deck — built around the Prize-saving Ability. Sableye hits for 90 with a Darkness Stage 2 on the Bench, Seviper adds +120 damage while a Darkness Mega Evolution ex is in play (240 with its attack), and Dawn finds a whole evolution line.
Special Deck Set MEGA vs Starter Set MEGA
Search results for “Mega Gengar ex deck” mix two products. The single-deck Starter Set MEGA Mega Gengar ex (スターターセットMEGA メガゲンガーex) came out on September 5, 2025 at ¥1,800, alongside a Mega Diancie ex version; each has one 60-card deck with two copies of its Mega ex, a playmat, a coin and counters.[2] The Special Deck Set MEGA is the three-deck box from November 2026.
| Special Deck Set MEGA | Starter Set MEGA Mega Gengar ex | |
|---|---|---|
| Decks in the box | 3 (Feraligatr, Dragonite, Gengar) | 1 (Mega Gengar ex) |
| Cards | 180 (3 × 60) | 60 |
| Price (tax incl.) | ¥5,500 → about ¥1,833 a deck | ¥1,800 |
| Released | Nov 13, 2026 | Sep 5, 2025 |
At list price both cost about the same per deck. On resale the comparison flips: retailer listings show the Gengar and Diancie starters at about ¥3,400–¥3,600 on Rakuten on 2026-11-02, while the three-deck set is asking about double its list. If you only want a Mega Gengar ex deck to play, the starter is the cheaper buy right now.
Are these the same cards as the Mega Gengar ex and Mega Dragonite ex SARs?
No. The deck set holds standard holo versions. The high-value Special Art Rares are Mega Gengar ex SAR 240/193 and Mega Dragonite ex SAR 246/193 from the high-class pack MEGA Dream ex, a 10-card ¥550 pack released on November 28, 2025.[3] Those singles are the chase cards of that earlier set.
Live Special Deck Set MEGA Prices in Japan
| Where | Asking price seen 2026-11-02 | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Rakuten pre-orders, main cluster | ¥11,300 – ¥12,000 | 8 shop listings, several shipping the day before release |
| Rakuten, higher-priced shops | ¥14,800 – ¥22,980 | 4 listings; one more at ¥27,500 with a 3-per-customer cap |
| Mercari | ¥15,000 | 2 listings |
| Same set on Rakuten, one week earlier (2026-10-26) | ¥13,980 – ¥14,720 | from our release calendar check |
These are asking prices from listings found through OneMall search on 2026-11-02, not sold prices; pre-release prices move daily. The main Rakuten cluster sits at about 2.1× the ¥5,500 list price, down from ¥13,980–¥14,720 a week earlier, as allocated shops compete before release day — a snapshot, not a forecast.
Why the premium? Pokémon Center Online sold the set by lottery: entries ran October 16–19, 2026, winners were announced on October 23, and orders are scheduled to ship by November 12. Most winning slots went to Players Club members who had completed identity verification, and delivery was limited to addresses in Japan.[4] Retailer pages reported that Japanese electronics and supermarket chains ran their own lotteries, also tied to Japanese member accounts. None can be entered through a proxy. The set is not on the My Number Card list, which covers the 30th CELEBRATION products.[5]
How to Buy the Special Deck Set MEGA From Japan (Cheap and Cheapest)
The cheapest realistic way is a Rakuten pre-order at the low end of the range, compared with Mercari asks a week or two after November 13, when more resale listings tend to appear. Step by step:
- Step 1 — Search in Japanese: スペシャルデッキセットMEGA, スペシャルデッキセットMEGA シュリンク付き, or the JAN 4521329463155.
- Step 2 — Check the product: the title should name all three Pokémon (メガオーダイル・メガカイリュー・メガゲンガー). Skip スターターセット (single deck) and listings of loose cards from the box.
- Step 3 — Compare total cost: item price + the ¥300-per-item service fee + the shop’s Japanese shipping. An ¥11,300 Rakuten pre-order comes to ¥11,600 at the first payment.
- Step 4 — Wait for release: pre-orders ship around November 13 and the box is stored free at our Tokyo warehouse while your other orders arrive.
- Step 5 — Inspect: add unboxing photos (¥500 / ¥700) or a wrong/missing-item check (¥200) to confirm the shrink wrap and corners before it ships.
- Step 6 — Consolidate and ship: combine it with sleeves, singles or other November releases; the first six orders consolidate free. Pay international shipping plus any Japanese domestic shipping at the second payment.
Sealed-box words to read on Japanese listings: シュリンク付き (shrink-wrapped), 未開封 (unopened), 予約 (pre-order) and 発売日前日発送 (ships the day before release). シュリンクなし listings are cheaper for a reason: nobody can show the box was never opened.
OneMall buys from Japanese marketplaces such as Mercari, Yahoo Auctions, Rakuten, Amazon Japan and Suruga-ya, and from other Japanese online stores through LinkBuy (any Japanese shop URL). Items that need a lottery entry, an invitation, a purchase limit tied to an account, Japanese identity verification or a merchant account cannot be purchased. International shipping is charged on the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (length × width × height ÷ 5,000) of the box the warehouse uses.
Timing (estimated average): once a seller ships, items reach our Tokyo warehouse in about 3–5 business days, and parcels leave 1–3 business days after you pay for international shipping. Pre-orders ship from the Japanese shop on or just before the release date, so plan around that date rather than the day you order.
Service fees are ¥300 per item on most marketplaces; from ¥200 per item on Yahoo Auctions and LinkBuy. The first six orders consolidate free; each additional order costs ¥100. Storage is free for 90 days after arrival (30 days after consolidation). Payment is by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, settled in USD.
US buyers: since August 29, 2025, US-bound parcels of any value go through customs and pay applicable duties, taxes and fees — the $800 de minimis exemption no longer applies. OneMall currently ships to the United States by ECMS, DHL and Japan Post EMS (DDP — declared value up to USD 2,500, duties prepaid with the shipping fee); the live quote at checkout shows which lines accept your parcel.
The Hadou Seeker expansion (M7) follows on November 27, 2026 at ¥200 a pack.[6] For a Mega booster box instead, our Storm Emeralda (M6) booster box guide uses the same steps, and how to buy Japanese Pokémon cards covers singles and grading words.
