How Gashapon Actually Works
A gashapon series is a set — typically four to six variants — loaded into a machine as mixed capsules. You pay per turn, you get one at random, and you cannot choose. Run the arithmetic on the middle one. How to Buy Gashapon Figures From Overseas: Step by Step
- Search the Japanese series name, not the English one. ガシャポン and ガチャ both work as category words; カプセルトイ is the generic term. The English “gachapon” returns almost nothing on a Japanese marketplace.
- Add the completeness keyword. コンプ or コンプリート means the full set, 全〇種 states the variant count, シークレット is the hidden bonus variant that some series include. Searching without one of these buries you in single figures.
- Decide whether you want the capsule. 未開封 means unopened — the capsule and paper insert are intact, which collectors pay a little more for. 開封済 means opened and usually assembled; for display, this is fine and cheaper.
- Check for シークレット separately. A “complete” set in a listing sometimes means the standard variants only. If a series had a secret figure, the listing will say so — and if it does not, assume it is not included.
- Buy several sets at once. Capsule figures are tiny and light, so a single set is almost all service fee and shipping overhead. Five sets in one box costs barely more to ship than one.

The floor matters more than the rate in this category: on a ¥1,880 set, 3% would be ¥56, so you pay the ¥200 minimum.
