TL;DR
The Hello Kitty x Godzilla plush is TOHO’s GODZILLA・SANRIO CHARACTERS line: seven Sanrio characters in Godzilla costumes from 1954, 1995 and 2016. Mascots (¥3,080) arrived July 22, 2026, and the larger Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll plush (¥4,400) on October 16. TOHO’s online store does not ship abroad, so US buyers order from Japanese marketplaces.
- Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll wear Godzilla (1954), Pompompurin and Hangyodon wear Godzilla (1995), My Melody and Kuromi wear the 2016 Shin Godzilla 4th form, and My Sweet Piano wears its 2nd form.
- Japan list prices include tax: ¥4,400 for the plush, ¥3,080 for each plush mascot keychain. TOHO limits both to 3 per person, and both were out of stock on its online store on November 4, 2026.
- The same day, new plush started at ¥3,850 on Rakuten and Suruga-ya had a used Hello Kitty plush at ¥3,600.
- The Japanese line is not the US McDonald’s Happy Meal toy set or a TeeTurtle reversible plushie. Designs and pairings differ.
As of November 2026, two different “Hello Kitty Godzilla” products share one search box: the McDonald’s Happy Meal toys that reached US restaurants in August[8], and TOHO’s Japanese plush line, whose biggest pieces only went on sale on October 16. This guide is about the Japanese one, which TOHO sells through Japanese stores and does not ship abroad[5].
Below you will find the full character lineup and which Godzilla each character wears, the actual release dates, sizes and Japan prices, how the collab differs from US Godzilla plush, and a step-by-step way to get one from Japan in time for Black Friday or Christmas.
Which characters are in the Hello Kitty x Godzilla plush lineup?
The collaboration’s name is GODZILLA・SANRIO CHARACTERS (ゴジラ・サンリオキャラクターズ). TOHO, Godzilla’s studio, dresses seven Sanrio characters in kigurumi-style Godzilla costumes based on three eras of the monster’s design[1]. Every Sanrio x Godzilla item in the line uses the same pairings, so the costume tells you the character’s era at a glance.
| Character | Godzilla costume | Plush mascot keychain (¥3,080), W × H × D | Plush (¥4,400), W × H × D |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hello Kitty | Godzilla (1954) | (A) about 100 × 125 × 70 mm | (A) about 150 × 180 × 150 mm |
| Cinnamoroll | Godzilla (1954) | (E) about 180 × 105 × 70 mm | (E) about 180 × 150 × 120 mm |
| Pompompurin | Godzilla (1995) | (F) about 115 × 130 × 95 mm | — |
| Hangyodon | Godzilla (1995) | (G) about 105 × 125 × 90 mm | — |
| My Melody | Godzilla (2016), 4th form | (B) about 145 × 120 × 100 mm | — |
| Kuromi | Godzilla (2016), 4th form | (C) about 110 × 145 × 100 mm | — |
| My Sweet Piano | Godzilla (2016), 2nd form | (D) about 90 × 125 × 65 mm | — |
Sizes are TOHO’s figures for the polyester body; each mascot also hangs from a chain of about 70 mm[2][3]. In inches, the Hello Kitty Godzilla stuffed animal (A) stands about 7.1 in tall and the Cinnamoroll plush (E) about 5.9 in, while the mascots run roughly 4.1 to 5.7 in tall.
Plush or mascot: which Godzilla plush is which?
The letter codes matter when you search Japanese listings. ぬいぐるみ (nuigurumi, the Japanese word for plush toys and stuffed animals) is the sit-on-a-shelf plush, and only two exist so far: the Hello Kitty Godzilla plush (A) and the Cinnamoroll Godzilla plush (E)[1]. マスコット (mascot) is the smaller Godzilla mascot plush with a chain, the piece most fans clip to a bag. If you want a Kuromi Godzilla plush, a My Melody Godzilla plush, a Pompompurin Godzilla plush or the Hangyodon Godzilla version, the mascot is currently the only plush format.
When did the Godzilla x Sanrio collab come out?
Reports that the Sanrio Godzilla collab “launched” in November 2025 describe the character reveal, not a product drop. TOHO says the GODZILLA x Sanrio Characters artwork was unveiled at Godzilla Fest 2025 that November, and on April 21, 2026 it announced that collab goods would go on sale[6]. Here is the sequence, checked against TOHO’s own pages:
- November 2025: the characters are unveiled at Godzilla Fest 2025. Art only.
- April 21, 2026: TOHO enters the characters in the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking partner category and confirms merchandise; My Sweet Piano is the last, secret character[6].
- July 22, 2026: the seven plush mascots go on sale at ¥3,080 each[3].
- September 4, 2026: 3D mascot keychains (¥1,430) join the line. They are PVC, not plush[1].
- October 16, 2026: the larger Hello Kitty (A) and Cinnamoroll (E) plush follow at ¥4,400 each[2].
- Late November to December 2026: a TOHO pre-order run of all seven mascots starts delivering to buyers in Japan. Its page also showed out of stock on November 4[4].
The Sanrio Godzilla collab 2026 range also has other non-plush pieces, such as random mini sofubi at ¥880, stickers, socks and towels[1]. If you are after something soft, stick to the ぬいぐるみ and マスコット names.
How much does a Godzilla plush from the Sanrio collab cost in Japan?
TOHO’s list prices are ¥4,400 for the plush and ¥3,080 for a mascot, tax included, with a limit of 3 per person. On November 4, 2026, TOHO’s online store showed both formats out of stock[2][3]. Japanese marketplaces still had stock, and some retailers were below list price; the lowest new price we saw for a Godzilla Sanrio plush was ¥3,850:
| Item | Japan list price (tax incl.) | Released | Listings we read on Nov 4, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plush (A) Hello Kitty | ¥4,400 | Oct 16, 2026 | New ¥3,850 (EDION on Rakuten) to ¥5,480 (a Rakuten hobby shop); used ¥3,600 (Suruga-ya) |
| Plush (E) Cinnamoroll | ¥4,400 | Oct 16, 2026 | New ¥3,850 (EDION on Rakuten) to ¥5,480 (a Rakuten hobby shop) |
| Mascot (B) My Melody | ¥3,080 | Jul 22, 2026 | New ¥3,000 to ¥3,850 (Rakuten shops) |
| Mascot (C) Kuromi | ¥3,080 | Jul 22, 2026 | New ¥2,690 (EDION on Rakuten) to ¥3,000 (a Rakuten shop) |
EDION is one of the retailers TOHO lists as a stockist[1], which is why its Rakuten store is worth checking first. Prices on resale and hobby shops move daily, so compare two or three listings before you order. These are the listings we checked on Japanese marketplaces:
Suruga-ya notes that it does not guarantee tags on used plush, so check the photos if a tag matters to you.
How is it different from US Godzilla plush like TeeTurtle?
The Japanese line puts Sanrio characters inside Godzilla costumes. The two US products people mix it up with do something else:
| GODZILLA・SANRIO CHARACTERS (Japan) | TeeTurtle Godzilla reversible plush (US) | McDonald’s Hello Kitty and Friends x Godzilla (US) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Sanrio characters wearing Godzilla costumes, as plush and mascots | Godzilla-only plushies that flip between two expressions; the Collector’s Blind Box covers six Godzilla versions (1954, 1967, 1974, 1989, 1994, 2016)[7] | Eight Happy Meal toys pairing Sanrio characters with Toho monsters[8] |
| Example | Kuromi in a Shin Godzilla suit | A 1954 Godzilla plushie that flips its face | Kuromi x Mechagodzilla, Hello Kitty x Godzilla |
| Price | ¥4,400 plush, ¥3,080 mascot | $12.99 per blind-box plushie, $68.20 for six | Came with a Happy Meal |
| Where sold | Godzilla Store in Japan, Don Quijote, Bic Camera, EDION[1] | teeturtle.com | Participating US McDonald’s from August 18, 2026, for a limited time |
A search of teeturtle.com for “godzilla” on November 4, 2026 returned Godzilla apparel and Godzilla-only plushies, with no Sanrio crossover among them. So if you have been searching for a Godzilla reversible plush with Hello Kitty inside, that product does not show up in TeeTurtle’s Godzilla range; the Sanrio x Godzilla plush is the Japanese one. And if a listing shows Kuromi with Mechagodzilla, it is the US Happy Meal toy, not TOHO’s plush. The same goes for searches like “hello kitty godzilla mcdonalds”: that is the Happy Meal set, a different product from this line.
How do you buy a Hello Kitty Godzilla plush from the US?
Go through a Japanese marketplace, not TOHO. Its Godzilla Store ONLINE says it is “not able to ship our item internationally at this time”[5], and the collab items carry a 3-per-person limit[2]. Purchase-limited items cannot be bought through LinkBuy, OneMall’s buy-by-URL service, either. The route that works is a marketplace listing in Japan: retailers such as EDION and hobby shops on Rakuten, used stock at Suruga-ya, and resale on Mercari.
- Step 1: Pick the piece and its letter. Plush come as (A) Hello Kitty and (E) Cinnamoroll; mascots run (A) to (G). Search in Japanese: ゴジラ サンリオ ぬいぐるみ for plush, ゴジラ サンリオ マスコット for mascots.
- Step 2: Compare new and used. New plush ranged from ¥3,850 to ¥5,480 on Rakuten on November 4, 2026, and a used one was ¥3,600 at Suruga-ya.
- Step 3: Order through OneMall. The service fee is ¥300 per item on most marketplaces, including Rakuten, Suruga-ya and Mercari, and from ¥200 per item on Yahoo Auctions and LinkBuy. In-stock items take an estimated average of 3–5 business days to reach our Tokyo warehouse after the seller ships.
- Step 4: Hold and combine. Storage is free for 90 days after arrival (30 days after consolidation), and your first 6 orders consolidate free, then ¥100 per additional order. Add unboxing photos if you want to see the plush before it leaves Japan.
- Step 5: Ship it. For a US address, choose ECMS, DHL or Japan Post EMS (DDP). With ECMS and DHL you pay on chargeable weight, which is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (length × width × height in cm ÷ 5,000, measured on the outer box). A 30 × 25 × 20 cm carton counts as 3 kg with either, whatever the plush inside weighs. Japan Post EMS (DDP) is charged by actual weight instead. International dispatch takes an estimated average of 1–3 business days after you pay for shipping. Import duties, taxes and clearance fees are paid by the buyer.
Gift timing: Black Friday and Christmas
Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026. With TOHO’s online store out of stock and its mascot pre-order run going to buyers in Japan[4], the listings already on Japanese marketplaces are your gift pool. Every leg in the steps above is an estimated average, not a promise, so leave slack. If you are buying several gifts, the free storage lets you collect them and ship once. For more Japanese gift ideas and when to order them, see our Christmas gifts from Japan guide.
Conclusion
The Hello Kitty x Godzilla plush is a Japanese line with a simple logic: seven Sanrio characters, three eras of Godzilla, two plush and seven mascots. TOHO’s online stock is gone, but Japanese marketplaces still had both formats on November 4, some below list price. If you collect the monster itself, our guides to buying Godzilla figures from Japan and Godzilla Minus Zero merch cover the figure lines, and you can browse our Godzilla figure and kaiju sofubi picks on OneMall.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Hello Kitty x Godzilla plush sold in the US?
Not through TOHO. Its stockist list covers Godzilla Stores in Japan and Japanese retailers such as Don Quijote, Bic Camera and EDION, and its online store does not ship overseas[1][5]. From the US, the practical route is a Japanese marketplace listing ordered through a forwarding service.
How big is the Hello Kitty Godzilla plush?
The Hello Kitty plush (A) is about 150 × 180 × 150 mm (W × H × D), roughly 7.1 in tall. The Cinnamoroll plush (E) is about 180 × 150 × 120 mm[2]. The mascots are smaller, about 90 to 180 mm wide, with a chain of about 70 mm[3].
Which Sanrio characters are in the Godzilla collab?
Seven: Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Hangyodon, My Melody, Kuromi and My Sweet Piano. As of November 4, 2026, only Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll have the larger plush; all seven come as mascots[1].
Is it the same as the McDonald’s Hello Kitty Godzilla collab?
No. The Hello Kitty Godzilla collab at McDonald’s, which ran in the US from August 18, 2026, was a set of eight Happy Meal toys pairing Sanrio characters with Toho monsters[8]. TOHO’s Japanese line dresses the characters in Godzilla costumes and is sold as plush and mascots.
Is a Godzilla plush keychain part of the collab?
Yes. The マスコット (mascot) is a small Godzilla plush keychain: a polyester plush on a chain of about 70 mm, ¥3,080 at list price, in all seven characters[3]. The ¥1,430 3D mascot keychains (立体マスコットキーホルダー) are PVC, not plush[1].
Can OneMall order these from TOHO’s Godzilla Store?
No. The collab items there are limited to 3 per person, and purchase-limited items cannot be bought through LinkBuy. Order a Godzilla plush from Japan through a marketplace listing on Rakuten, Suruga-ya or Mercari instead.
