TL;DR
Toranoana (とらのあな) is a Tokyo-based doujinshi retailer whose online store lists more than 100,000 works, many of them exclusives. It does not accept orders from outside Japan or ship abroad. From the US, buy Toranoana doujinshi with OneMall LinkBuy: paste the item link, pay in USD, and we ship from our Tokyo warehouse.
- Its terms rule out overseas orders and shipping; the store menu points overseas fans to a partner forwarding service.[1]
- Its card list leaves out Visa and Mastercard, and PayPal isn’t offered.[2] LinkBuy takes Visa, Mastercard and PayPal, settled in USD.
- 198 of 200 titles in today’s all-ages weekly rankings cost under ¥4,000, so the LinkBuy fee is the ¥200 minimum (5%, max ¥1,000 per item).[3]
- Lottery, purchase-limited and members-only listings can’t go through LinkBuy.
As of October 2026, Toranoana is an online store first: its Akihabara A store closed in 2022, and 91 of the 100 titles in its women’s all-ages weekly ranking are exclusives. Those exclusives make the extra step from the US worth it.
Below: what the store sells, what 専売 (exclusive) means, what its terms say about overseas orders, and a LinkBuy walkthrough with prices read on October 9, 2026.
What Is Toranoana (とらのあな)?
Toranoana, also written Tora no Ana (虎の穴, meaning “the tiger’s den”), opened in Akihabara in 1994 and started a mail-order department in 1996; the online store still goes by Toranoana mail order (とらのあな通信販売). The brand often appears as Comic Toranoana (コミックとらのあな), and the company launched the creator platform Fantia in 2016.[4]
Some searchers call it a manga publisher, but its company profile lists buying, selling and distributing manga, toys, self-published works and anime goods as its first business. Online, it carries more than 100,000 works.[5]
The physical side has shrunk. On August 31, 2022, Toranoana closed Akihabara A, Shinjuku, Chiba, Namba A and Umeda in Osaka after 28 years in Akihabara, and dropped plans to reopen in Nagoya;[6] Akihabara B had closed in April 2021.
Its store guide now lists one full Toranoana physical store, in Ikebukuro, plus 21 small 出張所 (“branch”) corners in partner shops from Hakodate and Sapporo to Fukuoka, nine inside Suruga-ya stores, and a Taipei store.[7] There is no Toranoana Akihabara shop on that list.
What Toranoana Doujinshi Can You Buy?
Doujinshi are self-published books by circles, either fan works or originals. Circles consign them to the store, whose online shop has a men’s side (とらのあな) and a women’s side, JOSHIBU (女子部), each with all-ages and 18+ sections.[5] New to the format? Start with our doujinshi buying guide; our Comiket guide covers event goods.
Doujinshi come as manga, novels, illustration collections and copy-shi (photocopied zines), alongside doujin goods, music and software. Today’s all-ages doujinshi page featured original works, Nijisanji, Blue Archive, Touhou Project and hololive; JOSHIBU had hubs for Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyu!! and Blue Lock. We cover the all-ages catalog here; the 18+ sections sit behind an age check, and LinkBuy requests are reviewed before purchase.
Toranoana exclusives (専売) by the numbers
The store’s circle FAQ defines 専売 strictly: a title is exclusive only if no other company’s online store sells it, so an Amazon or BOOTH listing makes it 併売 (shared), while event sales and a circle’s own website don’t count.
On October 9, 2026, 91 of the 100 titles in JOSHIBU’s all-ages weekly doujinshi ranking carried the 専売 ribbon,[3] against 38 of 100 on the men’s side. Prices ran from ¥110 to ¥5,500, and the men’s No. 1 was already out of stock. If your circle sells through Melonbooks instead, see our Melonbooks guide.
Bonuses (特典) and Toranoana limited editions
Some listings carry a 特典 (bonus), and Toranoana limited editions (とらのあな限定版) add extras such as an A3 tapestry or a pass case. The Classroom of the Elite Year 3, Vol. 5 edition, out October 23, 2026, is two cart items: the ¥946 book plus a ¥1,540 paid-bonus pass case (¥2,486 with tax), sold first-come, first-served.
First-come is not a lottery, but the LinkBuy rule still applies: items that need a lottery entry, have purchase limits, or require Japanese identity verification or a members-only account cannot be bought.
Toranoana Overseas Shipping: Does It Ship to the US?
No. Toranoana’s terms limit the mail-order service to Japan: it cannot accept orders from outside Japan or ship outside Japan. The English version is blunt: “Sorry. No International Shipping Service Available.”[1]
The 海外発送 (“overseas shipping”) link in the store menu leads to a page about a forwarding partner, and the footer points overseas customers to a purchasing-agent option.[5] The store notes that the overseas leg is the partner’s service, not its own.
Payment and sign-up hurdles
Toranoana payment methods are built for buyers in Japan, and that’s the main hurdle. The card list names JCB and Diners Club among a short list of brands, without Visa or Mastercard, and cards need 3D Secure. Other options are au PAY, cash on delivery, pay-later slips and Toracoin (とらコイン), a prepaid balance worth one yen per coin; PayPal isn’t listed.[2]
A language switcher adds English and Traditional Chinese, but mainly for menus (My Page shows “Merge Cycle” for consolidation); the first-time buyer guide stays in Japanese.[5] Home delivery in Japan costs ¥800 per shipment under ¥11,000, Toranoana free shipping starts at ¥11,000 (tax included), and the store says orders ship about 3 to 21 days after confirmation.
How Do You Buy Toranoana Doujinshi from the USA?
LinkBuy is our proxy-buying service for Japanese online stores that aren’t integrated into our site. Buying from Toranoana through it works the same for a doujinshi, a light novel or a figure, and you don’t need to sign up for a Toranoana account or pay in yen. Our LinkBuy guide covers the general rules.
| Where to buy | What you can buy there | Ships to the US directly? | How to buy it with OneMall (steps / fee) |

| LinkBuy | Regular in-stock and pre-order listings; no lottery, purchase-limited or members-only items | Yes, from our Tokyo warehouse by ECMS or DHL | Steps 1–7 below; 5% fee, min ¥200 / max ¥1,000 per item, plus shipping |
LinkBuy fee: 5% of the item price, min ¥200 / max ¥1,000 per item — OneMall LinkBuy shopping guide, checked 2026-10-09.
- Step 1: Copy the product URL from ecs.toranoana.jp (men’s side or JOSHIBU). If a listing pairs a book with a paid bonus (有償特典), copy both links.
- Step 2: On the LinkBuy page, paste the link and enter the item name, specification, tax-inclusive listed price and notes. For several items, add each to your Submission List and send them as one review order.
- Step 3: Our team reviews the request. After approval you get an SMS and must pay within 24 hours, or the order is cancelled automatically; a failed review shows its reason under My > Shop Freely > Review Failed.
- Step 4: Pay the item price plus the service fee. Payment methods are Visa, Mastercard and PayPal, settled in USD.
- Step 5: We order, and the store ships to our Tokyo warehouse: in-stock items usually arrive 3–5 business days after the store ships; pre-orders with a fixed date ship within 2–3 business days of release, then take 3–5 business days to reach the warehouse (estimated average).
- Step 6: Items get 90 days of free storage after arrival (30 days after consolidation); the first 6 orders consolidate free, ¥100 per additional order.
- Step 7: Pay international shipping plus the Japanese domestic shipping the store charged, and choose ECMS or DHL for the US.
Items that need a lottery entry, have purchase limits, or require Japanese identity verification or a members-only account cannot be bought. To cancel, act before the store accepts the order: after acceptance there is no cancellation for change of mind. Out-of-stock items or a store refusal mean cancellation and a full refund, service fee included, within three business days.
What Does a Toranoana Order Cost to Reach the US?
You pay in two stages. First comes the item price plus the LinkBuy fee: anything under ¥4,000, like the ¥946 book above, pays the ¥200 minimum, and anything over ¥20,000 hits the ¥1,000 cap. The amount the system calculates at order time prevails.
Second comes international shipping plus the domestic shipping the store charged, which we advance and collect once items reach the warehouse. Rates use chargeable weight, the larger of actual and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 5000, cm → kg, on the outer box our warehouse uses).
Thin books can bend, so consider packaging: reinforcement starts from ¥100 by parcel weight, and unboxing photos (¥500 / ¥700) show condition before dispatch.
Since August 29, 2025, US-bound parcels of any value go through customs and pay applicable duties, taxes and fees — the $800 de minimis exemption no longer applies.[8] Duties, taxes and clearance fees are paid by the buyer.
Sold out? Search secondhand copies on Suruga-ya, Mercari and Yahoo Auctions, integrated into our site: ¥300 per item on most marketplaces; from ¥200 per item on Yahoo Auctions and LinkBuy.
Conclusion
Toranoana won’t ship to you, and its card list skips Visa and Mastercard, but its exclusive doujinshi justify the extra step. Check that a listing isn’t lottery, purchase-limited or members-only, then submit the product link through OneMall LinkBuy.
