Is Buyee legit? Yes — Buyee (buyee.jp) is an established Japan proxy shopping and forwarding service, and US shoppers use it every day for Yahoo Auctions, Mercari and Japanese web stores. The question that actually decides whether it is the right choice for you is a different one: what does an order cost once the service fee, domestic shipping, optional services and international postage stack up? This page answers the safety question first, then puts Buyee’s published fee next to four other Japan proxies on the same basis, with the date each number was checked.

TL;DR

As of October 2026, Buyee is a legitimate, established Japan proxy service operating at buyee.jp. Buyee’s service fee has been ¥500 per order since 2026-04-01; on Yahoo Auctions and Mercari that means one fee per item won or bought. Per-item proxies such as OneMall charge ¥300 per item on most marketplaces, so the lower-fee option depends on how many items you buy and where you buy them.

  • Buyee is legit and safe to use; confirm you are on buyee.jp, not a look-alike spelling.
  • Buyee fees: ¥500 per order (was ¥300 before 2026-04-01), charged per item on auctions and Mercari and per store order in online shops.
  • Same-basis comparison below: one Mercari listing costs ¥300–¥800 in service fees depending on the proxy; three items in one store order favour a per-order fee.
  • Every proxy adds domestic shipping, international postage and, since 2025-08-29, US import duties at any parcel value.

Is Buyee Legit?

Yes. Buyee is a real, established Japanese proxy shopping and forwarding business: it publishes its fees, runs a warehouse in Japan, supports purchases from Yahoo Auctions Japan[2], Mercari[3] and Japanese online stores, and operates a customer-support desk in English. When people search “buyee.jp legit”, “buyee japan legit” or “how reliable is buyee”, the direct answer is that the company and the service are real.

“Legit” and “best value for your basket” are two different questions, though. Like every proxy, Buyee has trade-offs around billing unit, storage and add-on charges, and those are what the rest of this Buyee review covers.

Is Buyee Safe to Use?

Buyee is safe to use in the ways most shoppers mean: it operates inside Japan’s mature, regulated e-commerce market[1], you pay Buyee rather than an unknown seller abroad, and the service shows its charges before you confirm. The residual risks are the same for any proxy, so handle them the same way:

  • Use the real domain. The site is buyee.jp. Misspellings such as “buyeee” or “buyye” are exactly the kind of typo that look-alike domains target; type the address or use a bookmark.
  • Read the listing, not the proxy. A proxy buys the exact listing you point it to. The condition and accuracy of a second-hand item depend on the original Mercari or Yahoo Auctions seller, so check seller ratings and photos before ordering.
  • Keep records. Screenshot the listing, the fee breakdown and the shipping quote; they are what a support desk asks for if something arrives wrong.
  • Budget for customs. Since August 29, 2025, US-bound parcels of any value go through customs and pay applicable duties, taxes and fees — the $800 de minimis exemption no longer applies[5].

How Does Buyee Work?

Buyee follows the standard Japan proxy model, which is worth understanding because every service in the comparison below uses the same three steps:

Is Buyee legit: smartphone and shipping box representing a Japan proxy purchase flow
A proxy buys on your behalf, then reships overseas.
  1. You find an item on a Japanese marketplace such as Yahoo Auctions Japan or Mercari, most of which ship only within Japan, or on a Japanese online store.
  2. The proxy buys it for you with a Japanese address and payment method and receives the parcel at its warehouse. You pay the item price plus the service fee at this stage.
  3. You pay international shipping once the item is in the warehouse, usually after consolidating several parcels into one box, and the proxy forwards it to the US.

The two-stage payment is normal. What separates services is how much they charge at each stage, how long they hold items for free, and whether the fee is billed per order, as Buyee does, or per item.

How Much Are Buyee Fees?

Buyee’s service fee is ¥500 per order, in force since 2026-04-01, when it rose from ¥300 (Buyee fees guide and Buyee’s notice of 2026-03-13, checked 2026-09-24). On Yahoo Auctions and Mercari the Buyee fee applies to each item you win or buy, because each listing is its own order; in online stores it applies once per store order, however many items that order contains. Buyee’s other charges — domestic shipping from the seller to its warehouse, any optional services you select at checkout, and the international postage itself — are shown on the order screen and change with your choices, so we do not quote them here.

Buyee fees: parcel on a shipping scale with a calculator
Weigh the fee layers before you commit to a service.

The Buyee shipping calculator estimates international postage from weight, size and carrier, and it is the right tool for budgeting the second payment. Read its output as the shipping line only: the service fee, domestic shipping and US import duties are separate. Like other carriers from Japan, the postage is priced on the greater of actual and volumetric weight[4], so a light item in a big box can cost more than its weight suggests.

How Do Buyee Fees Compare With Other Japan Proxy Services?

On the service-fee layer alone, Buyee sits in the middle of the market, and its billing unit is what makes it cheap or expensive for a given basket. The published service fees below were read on each provider’s official fee page on 2026-09-24; fees change often (Buyee’s changed on 2026-04-01), so re-check before you order.

Service Published service fee Billing unit Source (checked 2026-09-24)
Buyee ¥500 since 2026-04-01 (was ¥300) Per order; on Yahoo Auctions and Mercari one fee per item won or bought; in online stores one fee per store order Buyee fees guide; Buyee notice of 2026-03-13
ZenMarket ¥500; ¥300 at its recommended stores; ¥800 on Mercari (since 2025-10-01), Mercari Shops (since 2026-04-01) and Yahoo Auctions bids (since 2026-05-01) Per item ZenMarket fees page
Neokyo ¥350, plus packing from ¥500 per shipment Per item Neokyo fees page
FROM JAPAN ¥500 since 2024-07-31 (was ¥300) Per item FROM JAPAN fee page
OneMall ¥300 on most marketplaces; Yahoo Auctions 3% of the winning bid including tax (¥200–¥300); LinkBuy 5% (¥200–¥1,000) Per item Official fee schedule, confirmed 2026-09-23

Because per-order and per-item fees cross over, the only fair way to read the table is through a basket. Three common baskets, service fee only, same date:

Basket (service fee only, as of 2026-09-24) Buyee ZenMarket Neokyo FROM JAPAN OneMall
1 Mercari listing ¥500 ¥800 ¥350 ¥500 ¥300
3 items in one online-store order ¥500 ¥900–¥1,500 ¥1,050 ¥1,500 ¥900
5 separate Mercari listings ¥2,500 ¥4,000 ¥1,750 ¥2,500 ¥1,500

Not included for any provider: domestic shipping inside Japan, international postage, payment or currency charges, optional inspections, and Neokyo’s packing charge. A per-order fee such as Buyee’s suits several items bought from one store in one order; a per-item fee suits individual Mercari and auction listings, which is how most collectors actually shop. Run your own usual basket through this table before trusting any “cheapest proxy” headline, including ours.

What Else Should You Compare Besides the Service Fee?

The service fee is the smallest of the three cost layers; storage and consolidation decide the international-shipping bill, which is usually the largest. Three things to check on any proxy’s own pages before you commit:

  • Free storage window. OneMall, for example, holds items free for 90 days after arrival (30 days after consolidation) and consolidates the first 6 orders free, with ¥100 per additional order; 30 days of storage is common elsewhere. A longer window lets you wait for auctions to end and ship one box instead of three.
  • Consolidation cost. Check what each proxy charges to combine parcels and repack them, since a per-parcel repack fee can cancel out the postage you save by shipping once.
  • Checks before dispatch. Second-hand buys benefit from unboxing photos or a wrong/missing-item check while the parcel is still in Japan; price those add-ons up front rather than assuming they are included.

Conclusion: Is Buyee Legit and Worth Using?

Buyee is legit, safe to use and clear about its ¥500 per-order fee; whether it is the right proxy for you comes down to basket shape. If you mostly buy individual Mercari and Yahoo Auctions listings, price the same items through a per-item service — OneMall charges ¥300 per item on most marketplaces and from ¥200 per item on Yahoo Auctions and LinkBuy — and compare the full total including storage, consolidation and postage to your US address. Our Japan proxy service guide walks through the seven-point checklist for that comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Buyee legit and safe to use in 2026?

Yes. Buyee is an established Japan proxy shopping service with published fees, a warehouse in Japan and English support, and buying through it carries the same risks as buying through any reputable proxy, no more. Confirm you are on buyee.jp, check the original seller’s ratings, and keep screenshots of the listing and fee breakdown.

How much are Buyee fees in 2026?

Buyee charges a service fee of ¥500 per order, in force since 2026-04-01 (previously ¥300), per Buyee’s fees guide checked on 2026-09-24. On Yahoo Auctions and Mercari that is one fee per item won or bought; in online stores it is one fee per store order. Domestic shipping, optional services and international postage are added on top.

Is Buyee reliable for Yahoo Auctions and Mercari?

Yes. Buyee supports bidding on Yahoo Auctions Japan and purchasing from Mercari, both of which normally sell only to addresses in Japan. Because those are listings from private sellers, item condition depends on the seller, so read descriptions carefully and consider an inspection option before the parcel leaves Japan.

How accurate is the Buyee shipping calculator?

The Buyee shipping calculator gives an estimate of international postage from the parcel’s weight, dimensions and carrier. It does not include the service fee, domestic shipping inside Japan or the import duties the US collects on arrival, so treat it as the shipping line of your budget rather than the total.

Is there a lower-fee alternative to Buyee?

It depends on your basket. On service fees checked 2026-09-24, one Mercari listing costs ¥300 through a per-item proxy at the ¥300 rate versus ¥500 through Buyee, while three items in one store order cost ¥500 through Buyee versus ¥900 at ¥300 per item. Compare your usual basket, then add storage, consolidation and postage before deciding.
