The series in one paragraph
Bungo Stray Dogs is written by Kafka Asagiri and drawn by Sango Harukawa (春河35), published by KADOKAWA[1]. Its hook — and the reason the merchandise has such a specific flavour — is that every character is named after a real author and wields an ability named after that author’s work: Osamu Dazai’s “No Longer Human”, Chuuya Nakahara’s “Upon the Tainted Sorrow”, Atsushi Nakajima’s tiger. The anime adaptation’s character designs are by Nobuhiro Arai, and the principal cast includes Mamoru Miyano as Dazai and Kishou Taniyama as Chuuya[1]. That cast is why drama-CD bundles and voiced goods exist alongside the figures.
Spelling, and the rest of the cast
You will see the title romanised two ways — Bungo Stray Dogs and Bungou Stray Dogs — and abbreviated as BSD; Japanese listings use only 文豪ストレイドッグス. The film Dead Apple, the BEAST alternate-universe story and the light novels have their own goods waves. Beyond the headline cast, the sweep surfaced goods for Sakunosuke Oda, Edgar Allan Poe, Mori Ougai, Fukuzawa, Kenji Miyazawa, Ango Sakaguchi, Tachihara, Gin, Sigma and Jouno — mostly acrylics, kuji prizes and the Tapinui plush. For the rarer names — Verlaine, Bram Stoker, Kajii, Shibusawa, Natsume, Lucy — the sweep found little; expect to hunt kuji lots and acrylic sets. The Wan! chibi spin-off and the light novels (Untold Origins, Fifteen, Storm Bringer) each have their own small goods runs, and the series’ Yokohama setting has produced official Yokohama collaboration goods that only ever sold locally.
Static-figure lines to know by name: FuRyu’s Noodle Stopper (Dazai and Chuuya, seated on the rim of your cup — live in the sweep) and Look Up series, Taito prize figures and the yukata and seasonal outfit variants that are the collector versions of the same characters. “Sitting” figures — the seated chibi format — are the cheapest way into any character. Overseas, Hot Topic carries a thin licensed range and Etsy is almost entirely unlicensed.

Medians are across all product types for that character. Dazai’s is pulled up by scale figures; the Agency’s supporting cast is pulled down by acrylics, because that is most of what exists for them.

Product lines, explained
Scale and prize figures
The top of the market. Scale figures of Dazai and Chuuya from the major makers are the four-figure-yen items in the table; prize figures (プライズ, crane-game exclusives) are the cheap end and are often sold 箱無し (no box), which is fine for display and bad for resale.
Nendoroid
Good Smile Company’s chibi articulated line covers the main cast, and the Swacchao! seated-pose variants appear on the picks page. Nendoroids hold value better than any other format here because they are numbered, boxed and reissued rarely.
Rukappu and other chibi statics
Rukappu (るかっぷ) are small seated chibi figures with a cup-holding pose, sold as a series; they are a Bungo Stray Dogs staple and price in the mid-range. Similar “korotto” (ころっと) acrylic figures are cheaper still.
Plush
Two families matter. Tapinui (たぴぬい) and the Oyasumi Tapinui (bedtime) series are the small palm plush sold in volumes; larger 20 cm plush of Fyodor and others come from the newer waves. Plush is the format where the villains (Fyodor, Nikolai) actually exist in numbers.
Acrylic stands and panels
The volume format. Event exclusives, store exclusives and kuji prizes are overwhelmingly acrylic. They are cheap, flat and light — twenty of them ship for what one figure ships for — and they are where you find the Agency’s supporting cast, the Guild and the Decay of Angels.
Kuji (lottery) prizes
Bungo Stray Dogs has run through several lottery systems — the Kujibikido (くじ引き堂) online lotteries such as the “Detective Agency founding story” set, and the anniversary kuji — whose prizes exist only as resale. Prize-tier letters (A賞, B賞) tell you the rarity within a set.
Capsule toys
Jewel acrylic keychains and mini figures from gashapon machines. The cheapest items in the sweep, and often sold as complete sets (全種セット), which is the efficient way to buy them.
Authenticity
- Official goods carry the licensor block ©朝霧カフカ・春河35／KADOKAWA／文豪ストレイドッグス製作委員会[1] on the tag or box. No block, no purchase.
- Plush described with generic gift-shop phrasing (“high quality, soft, birthday gift”) and no maker name are usually unlicensed. Compare against a tagged listing before paying.
- Nendoroid boxes carry a number and a Good Smile hologram; a Nendoroid with neither is not one.
How to buy
- Search in Japanese: 文豪ストレイドッグス for everything, then narrow by character — 太宰治, 中原中也 — or by format — ねんどろいど, アクリルスタンド.
- Filter 新品未開封 for sealed, 中古 for used; 箱無し means no box.
- Consolidate acrylics and capsule toys. Figures ship individually; small goods ship in bulk.
